Life has often been compared to that of a rose. Accept the fact that your path will not be a bed of rose petals. In order to appreciate the rose in its entirety, including the flower and petals, you need to accept the whole plant – and that includes thorns. The faster you learn to train your mind to accept the ups and downs, be prepared for the unexpected to happen and to embrace the twists and turns, the easier these challenges will be to overcome. In order to become victorious you must endure the hardships that may come your way as part and parcel of the journey of life.
We must also learn not to associate gratification with the evasion of pain. Most gains are often associated with some sort of ‘pain’. Yes, in the pursuit of fulfilling your wishes some things may appear enduring or painful at the time, but they can also result in bringing great pleasure and satisfaction. Think of trekking up to the top of a mountain. The ascent may be exasperating and difficult, and you may need to stop numerous times along the way to catch your breath or rest your tired legs, but once you do reach the summit, you will find the view absolutely exhilarating.
Don’t miss out on life’s great treasures simply because you want to evade the discomfort along the way. Fulfilling your wishes entails years of hard work, perseverance, and resilience without the expectation of instant results or gratification. The spiritual and personal rewards you will receive from pursuing your dreams will far outweigh any material possessions or belongings you will accumulate throughout your life. When all is said and done you will appreciate the pain that came with the spiritual gain.
