DAY 11 of '24 DAYS OF GIVING' - The Shoebox Project

The holiday season often acts as the catalyst to remind us that sometimes special occasions can be challenging and not everyone has a supportive network to lean on in times of need. We love The Shoebox Project - a registered charity that collects and distributes gift-filled Shoeboxes to women impacted by homelessness. The charity was founded in 2011, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada by four sisters-in-law: Jessica, Caroline, Vanessa and Katy Mulroney and now has grown in communities across Canada, the United States, and the United Kingdom.

In the first year of inception, The Shoebox Project delivered over 400 Shoeboxes to residents of four Toronto women's shelters and now through word of mouth and the support of some loyal sponsors, the initiative has grown exponentially ... to date, The Shoebox Project has distributed approximately 180,000 Shoeboxes, valued at $9,000,000 with approximately 70 volunteer-run Local Chapters in operation!!! Now that is awesome!!! We are firm believers that unity can be strength and when we all work together, beautiful things can happen.

Just Give Love

In order to help women with self-esteem, boosting confidence, and reduce feelings of isolation and loneliness, each Shoebox thoughtfully put together with items valued at $50 giving that overall feeling of being loved and needed. This small gesture can make a big difference to someone in need, and in the words of Ben Mulroney, "is a symbol of warmth, compassion and solidarity".

Ways To Give

There are a number of ways to give or get involved:

  1. Make a financial donation.

  2. Donate goods or services.

  3. Become a corporate partner.

  4. Host a third party event.
