Cucumber Water

We are all aware that the human body needs enough water to maintain overall health and function properly. Combine your water with cucumber and you've added a healthy boost of flavour. It is a healthy alternative to all those sugar-flavoured vitamin drinks.

Detox

Oxidative damage can lead to all kinds of diseases and chronic conditions including cancer, diabetes, heart disease, and also plays a role in aging. Antioxidants can help to prevent and delay cell damage from oxidative stress - the imbalance of free radicals and antioxidants in your body.

Cucumbers are high in antioxidants including:

  • vitamins A, B, K

  • calcium

  • magnesium

  • potassium

  • phosphorus

  • flavanoid fisetin

Cucumber water will make your glass of water more nutritious and antioxidant-rich - not to mention almost zero calories!

Cucumber water promotes:

  • hydration - proper hydration flushes toxins out of your body keeping your skin healthy

  • healthy skin - through hydration and vitamin B which helps acne and skin problems

  • weight loss - almost zero calories and being properly hydrated

  • lowering blood pressure - through adding more potassium to the body

  • muscle energy & recovery - through adding more potassium to the body

  • bone health & tissues - the vitamin K assists in increasing bone strength and reducing fractures

Making Cucumber Water is simple and easy.

Simply slice the cucumber, add some water, and if desired, a pinch of salt, to either a jug or a glass. Chill in the fridge for an hour or more to allow the cucumber to infuse into the water, and serve. To add a twist of additional flavour, try adding other healthy fruit or herbs i.e. a slice of lemon, or a sprig of mint or even basil!

Enjoy!
